FULL BAND: JULY 19 – 23 AND JULY 26 - 30

   Oak Grove Marching Band  received All-Superior (I's) at State Contest.  Congratulations OGHS Band!

Some quick notes to think about:

• Band dues are $100 for band members and is due by August 10, 2010.

• Please bring a case of 24 count water to the band hall as part of dues.

• Please bring a package of individually wrapped crackers to help on expenses.

• We will be asking for volunteers to work at the concession stand and in the stands during games.  Please think about signing up, and we will have a schedule up soon.

• We will also will need volunteers to help hem marching band pants on students.

• One of our Biggest events of the year is the Oak Grove Band Marching Festival.  We need as many parents as can to help for this is our biggest fund raiser, too.  Your band festival continues to grow every year, and with your help this year will be even better.

ALL PERFORMANCES ARE REQUIRED.

The above dates and times include all of the information that we have at this time.  You will be notified immediately of any additions or changes.  Detailed itineraries will be given as the event date approaches. 

 The Meridian game and MHSAA State Contest take place during Fall Break.  Make arrangements now to be present at both events.  MHSAA State Contest is one of the most important events of the year.  We receive our state rating and qualify for the championship at this event.  YOU MUST BE PRESENT!

• More about what's going on with All Oak Grove Bands from 6th through 12th Grade.

• If you are a Parent and your child is not in Band, we invite you to contact a Band Director for getting your child involved.

• We also invite parents to actively support and get involved in the Band Booster's Club.  There's NO membership fees; simply come to the meetings and help make our band program the best it can be.  Your help is needed and we welcome you.

• Both the 7th and 8th grade bands scored all-superior at Spring'09 Contest from all judges. 
• The Symphonic Band and The Wind Ensemble rated all-superior in every category from every judge at the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Band Festival. 
• The Oak Grove High School Band earned the "Sweepstakes Award" for scoring All-Superior from every judge at every MHSAA sponsored event throughout the entire 2008-2009 school year.
• On October 18, 2008 Oak Grove Marching Band received All-Superior (I)  ratings and placed 2nd overall.  We are very proud of the honor received by our OGHS Band Color Guard who received the highest rating of all guards placing 1st for "BEST OVER-ALL"
• On October 4, 2008, Oak Grove Marching Band received All-Superior (I) ratings at the MHSAA Band Contest in Gulfport.
• On September 27, 2008, Oak Grove Marching Band received All-Superior (I) ratings at the 3rd Annual Oak Grove Marching Festival. 
• Last year all bands at Oak Grove continued the tradition of excellence -  Marching, Wind Ensemble,  Symphonic, Concert, 8th Grade, and 7th Grade bands made All Superior (I) at State Contests for the 2007-2008 school year.  We hope to do that well this year and encourage all our band students to practice and work really hard and have fun, too.

• Sponsorship Opportunity - Oak Grove Band is looking to get corporations involved in our band program.  If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring the Oak Grove Band, please contact Ken Pace or Sharon Laird, any Band Director, or any Band Booster officer.

• Corporate sponsors:  Get your advertisement and logo placed on our website.  Contact Paul Nelson for immediate placement of your ad or logo and link to your website email your information to Paul.
• Parents and businesses have asked for it:  Here is a great opportunity to show your support:  There are now multiple levels of sponsorship, and you don't just have to be a business to show your support.  All levels get your name listed on our website showing your support for our band, $250 and above get your Logo or Name in the ad space on our website and a shout out at the game.  $1000 level gets our name on our T-Shirt and other great benefits.  Please hurry to support your Oak Grove High School Band.

Come join the fun as area bands are judged in full program music, marching, and uniforms, as they bring out all the stops for your entertainment.  Bands from Mississippi and surrounding states will perform.
